Alvaro U. Garcia, 84, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on March 24, 2026, passing peacefully in Odessa, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 27, 1941, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Nicholas and Eva Garcia. Alvaro spent his life dedicated to hard work, family, and faith. A skilled carpenter by trade, he devoted his life to his craft, spending countless hours in his shop, building and fixing anything anyone ever needed. His hands created not only beautiful pieces, but also lasting memories for his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great greatgrandchildren.
On February 14, 1962, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Alvaro married the love of his life, Antonia Suchil Garcia. For 64 years, they built a life centered on love, commitment, faith, and family.
Alvaro had a deep love for baseball and was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers. Whether it was his grandchildren’s little league game, minor league matchup, or a major league event, he never missed an opportunity to support and enjoy the game, especially when it meant spending time with those he loved.
Above all, Alvaro cherished his family. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His presence, wisdom, laughter, and quiet strength will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Antonia Garcia; four loving daughters and son in laws, Angela & Israel Hernandez, Maria & Lorenzo Garay, Olga & Eduardo Sotelo, and Nora & Jorge Rivera, who were his entire world and cared for him with unwavering love and devotion. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Abby, Eli, Lizy, Edward, Madai, Isai, Sarai, Victoria, and Alejandro; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Alvaro is also survived by his brothers, Ignacio, Eloy, and Cher Garcia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Nicholas and Eva Garcia; and his sister, Maria Cruz Armendariz.
Pallbearers will be Eli Garay, Edward Sotelo, Isai Garay, Alejandro Rivera, Lucian Chavez, and Robert Leyva.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors on the 5th & 8th floor at Medical Center Hospital, Jessica Sotelo, along with all the staƯ at Interim Hospice, and all extended family and friends who traveled from near and far. Your prayers, messages, and support have meant more than words can express.

“For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. Anyone who puts his trust in God’s Son will not be lost but will have life that lasts forever.” — John 3:16 (NLV)
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” — John 14:1–4 (NLV)
Alvaro’s legacy of love, generosity, and craftsmanship will live on through all who knew and loved him.
