Armando Bravo Esqueda

Armando “Mando” “Cuz” “Primo” Bravo Esqueda Jr. was born on October 6, 1964, in Alpine Texas to Armando Guzman Esqueda and Margarita Bravo Esqueda. He died March 15, 2026, in Odessa, Texas after a lengthy illness. In his words, he stated he was tired and to let him go. He is survived by his son Mason Robert Morris of Odessa, his mother Margarita Esqueda of Sanderson, sister Leticia Cortinas and brother Martin Esqueda who always stood by his side. He’s also survived and admired by his nephews Michael Thomas of Virginia Beach, Steven Anthony of Sherman and great nephew Vincent Gage and a long list of cousins who fondly referred to him as “Cuz” or “Primo.”

Although gone too soon at age 61, his passing may bring mixed emotions. Mando was raised in Sanderson, where he attended school and graduated a Sanderson Eagle as member of the Class of 83’. An avid outdoorsman and hunter its only fitting he would continue his education at Texas State Technological Institute (TSTI) in Waco and became a certified meat cutter. A skill he would use the rest of his life.

Mando, had numerous careers in his life, a meat cutter (he wore a tie), fiber optic foremen (where he traveled the country) and translator/cook (at a shelter). But nothing compared or brought him more joy than the work he did at the ranches. Whether it was hunting, trapping or cooking there was no one more dedicated or happy than Mando working at the ranch. Very few people can say they spent their lives loving what they do for a living, yet Mando was one of them.

Gone too soon, Mando lived a full life of adventures and memories. This is where he shined the most. The adventures he shared with us over a cold beer or Wild Turkey by the fire and barbeque grill made memories for us all.

And that’s the kind of generous person Mando was. He was generous with his stories, time, money and belongings. If you needed it and he had it, it was yours. Even is he needed it too.
