Obituary

Bernis L. Lincoln II, 72, of Odessa, Texas passed away on 15 February 2026 in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be Sunday, 22 February 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Martinez West Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Martinez West Funeral Home with the David Tunson of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Martinez West Funeral Home.

Bernis L. Lincoln II was born in Odessa, Texas to Bernis L. Lincoln, Sr. and Dorthey M. Lincoln on 22 July 1953. He went to the segregated Blackshear High School and later integrated Ector High School. Immediately following high school, he attended Odessa College for one year prior to joining the FBI as a fingerprint analyst. He was previously married to his high school sweetheart, the former Diane Sadler. The couple enlisted through the Army’s Buddy Program as Ector County’s first married couple. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era, serving in the Army as a legal specialist and combat telecommunications center operator. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (#2), Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, and Expert Rifle Qualification. His last rank served was Staff Sergeant. He was a dedicated, lifelong practitioner of martial arts, starting at a very young age. He taught martial arts, including kung fu and tai chi, for over 40 years at various locations including Mission Fitness Tai Chi and his own school, Odessa Golden Dragon Tai Chi Chuan. He was a proud member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, classmates, and local motorcycle groups.

Bernis L. Lincoln, II is preceded in death by his parents, Bernis L. Lincoln, Sr. and Dorthey M. Lincoln; his sister, Miriam (Penny) Marshall; and his great-nephew, Taylen Ky’ree Lincoln.

He is survived by his daughter, Ebony L. May (Christopher); sister, Julia Lincoln-Bryant (Benny); granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kiera May; nieces, LaToya Lincoln, Jewelya Lincoln-Smith, Tia Harris, and Breandrea Harris; and his nephew, Tere Harris.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Darryll Stephens, Jonny Fraco, Randall Williams, Bear Fetters, JT Turner, James King, Jackie Jackson, and David Tunson.
