Frances Gaytan

November 21, 1958 — December 16, 2025

Odessa

Frances Gaytan peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025, at Midland Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, grandmother and great grandmother whose life was defined by love, strength, and selflessness. She was married to her beloved husband, Oscar Gaytan, with whom she shared love, companionship, and many meaningful moments later in life.

Anyone who knew Frances knew her sense of humor. She was extremely funny, always joking, teasing, and finding ways to make others laugh — even in difficult moments. Her laughter was contagious, and she had a way of lifting spirits without even trying. At the same time, she was deeply caring and always put others before herself, making sure everyone around her was taken care of. Whether through a kind word, a meal, or simply showing up, Frances gave from her heart.

Above all else, Frances was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three sons: Johnny Muniz and his wife Aracely, Eric Muniz, and Omar Muniz and his wife Leslie. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Alex Muniz, Anthony Muniz, Ashton Muniz, and Arabella Muniz; Eric Ray Muniz, Cienna Muniz, and Julissa Muniz; and Robert Muniz and Cade Muniz. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride, and she loved each of them deeply.

She is also survived by her loving mother, Cruz Garcia, and her siblings: Margaret Sadler, Brenda Bernal, Sandra Garza, Teresa Garcia, and Jimmy Garcia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family that she loved dearly. She is also survived by her stepchildren and step-grandchildren, who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her father, Concepcion “Chon” Garcia, her brother, Larry Garcia, and her nephew, Robert Esai Garcia Urias.

Frances will be remembered not only for her kindness and resilience, but for her humor, her big heart, and the way she cared for everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family that will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Frances is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Pallbearers will be Alex Muniz,Anthony Muniz,Ashton Muniz,Angel Gudino,Nick Mudd and Zach Rhymes
