Martinez West Chapel
1:00 - 7:00 pm (Central time)
Marin Reyes, 85, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026.
Marin was born on September 7, 1940, in Marathon, Texas, to Jose and Leonor Reyes. He lived a life centered on hard work, family, friendship, and faith in the simple joys that make life meaningful. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
In his younger years, Marin enjoyed spending time in Peñitas, affectionately known as "The Post," where he spent countless days swimming, fishing, and making memories with his brothers and friends. From an early age, he understood the value of hard work and helped support his family. In 1964, he started a family of his own and began a career in road and bridge construction, which took him throughout West and East Texas. After more than a decade of service, he returned to Alpine, Texas, where he settled down and raised his children.
Marin enjoyed baseball, watching wrestling, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. During his years working for Big Bend Coca-Cola, he looked forward to company gatherings at Prude Ranch, where he enjoyed tug-of-war competitions, guachas, horseback riding, swimming, barbecuing, and evenings spent around the campfire with family, friends, and coworkers. He was also a proud supporter of the Alpine Fighting Bucks Band Booster Club.
Music and dancing were among Marin's greatest joys. Whether listening to rock, country, or Tejano music, he could always be found enjoying a favorite song and sharing a dance whenever the opportunity arises. His love of music brought people together and created countless memories for those who knew him.
After retirement, Marin embraced life with the same energy and enthusiasm that defined his younger years. He enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events, sightseeing, spending time with family, and maintaining his exercise routine. He was especially proud of being able to do one-handed push-ups and never missed an opportunity to go for a walk.
In the later years of his life, Marin made the decision to return to Texas to be closer to his family. Being surrounded by the people he loved brought him great comfort and happiness. He treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Marin is survived by his daughters, Stacey Reyes of San Antonio, Texas; Debra Jimenez of Fort Stockton, Texas; Nancy Sue Stoltz (George) and Eunice Reyes, both of El Paso, Texas; and his son, Marin Reyes Jr. of Alpine, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Emma (Edwardo) Vega; his brothers, Jose Feliciano (Yolanda) Reyes, Anselmo Reyes, and Adan (Karen) Reyes; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, compadres, and dear friends.
He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Micaela Macy Castelo, Nevaeh J. R. Reyna (Anthony), and Ruben Marin Reyes Acosta, all of San Antonio, Texas; Benito Matthew Jimenez of Midland, Texas; Briana Jimenez Day (Nathan) of Fort Stockton, Texas; Felixshia "Nikki" Stoltz, George Anthony Stoltz (Kim), George Eric Stoltz, Tristen Ilias Hernandez, and Richard Antonio Hernandez, all of El Paso, Texas.
