Obituary

Pete Martinez Gamboa, age 59, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1967, to Carlos Natividad Gamboa and Mary Lou Gamboa.

Pete was a reserved man at first, but once he warmed up, his true nature shined, he became a jokester with a gentle heart and a kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was especially known for his exceptional barbequing skills. No one could match his technique or depth of knowledge; his barbeque was legendary among family and friends. A devoted sports fan, Pete proudly supported the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Mavericks. Basketball held a special place in his heart throughout his life, whether playing alongside his brother, competing to win, or sharing the court with his sons, those moments brought him great joy. Above all else, Pete cherished his family. Nothing mattered more to him than spending time with those he loved, talking, laughing, and making memories he held dear.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Ermalinda Gamboa; his sons, Pete Gamboa Jr. and Matthew Gamboa; his brothers, Leo Gamboa, Roy Gamboa, and his “brother from another mother,” Arturo Munoz; and his sisters, Genelle Gamboa and Michelle Gamboa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mary Lou Gamboa, and his brother, Carlos Gamboa Jr.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Martinez West Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at Martinez West Chapel.

Pete will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
